5 Holiday Insights from Ecommerce Experts
BVAccel is a digital design, development and marketing agency that acts as expert implementation and execution partners to ecommerce platforms. We asked their experts a few questions about ecommerce in the Holiday season.
1. What is your one best tip to prepare your business for the holiday season?
Create a schedule and stick to it. If you have a team with multiple people: share a spreadsheet across the team that outlines promotion dates, times, messaging, creative, goals and responsibilities. Everyone should understand their role and what they need to contribute for success.
Editor’s note: talking about schedules, make sure you know your holiday shipping deadlines.
2. What is the biggest “don’t” for businesses in the holiday season?
DON’T run multiple promotions at the same time – option paralysis WILL stop customers from checking out. Focus all engagement effort on a single promotion at any given time and make it easy for everyone to see value.
3. What is the best takeaway from your previous holiday season?
Make sure your team is equipped to adapt to unknown scenarios. You can’t expect your team to prepare for everything, but you can expect them to respond to situations efficiently. Murphy’s law – anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
4. Can you tell us about an interesting holiday season datapoint and what lesson it holds?
Customer service is paramount – this is a critical time to acknowledge feedback and address customer needs. Make sure your customer has a remarkable shopping experience on Black Friday and you’ll motivate them to repeat purchase on Cyber Monday. Retention is everything.
5. What is key in branding your business this holiday season?
Keep your value proposition clear and consistent across all channels. Understand there is a lot of competition and noise during holiday – stay consistent with your messaging and ideal customers will take note.
