It’s a Baking Thing started life as a way to fill a specific gap in the market. The BAKO Limited company sold products through Amazon and eBay’s marketplaces, and that was enough to meet customer demand.

Soon after the brand launched, the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and the world was suddenly full of baking enthusiasts confined to their homes. Sales took off as customers scrambled to spend their newfound free time.

Eleanor, Marketplace Manager at BAKO Limited remembers that moment well:

“Within a year, our range had grown to include everything from flour and yeast, to cake decorating tools and ingredients. With hundreds of products now available on our marketplace channels, the decision was soon made to expand the brand further and our website launched.”    

To manage the growing number of shipments, It’s a Baking Thing’s team needed to address its changing operational needs. Considerable time was being spent searching for orders under different criteria and issues were arising when it came to creating or filing manifests.

Amendments to data, if needed, can be made before printing labels and the team makes use of ShipStation’s batch printing functionality daily. This has not only improved efficiency, but also cut the time it takes to fulfil orders.
