With Black Friday & Cyber Monday behind us, all you ecom-trepreneurs are probably looking ahead to the big finale of the holiday shopping season. Before diving back in to the fray, though, take 10 minutes out of your day to check out Last Week with ShipStation!
Last Week’s Shenanigans
It’s been a wild 7 days since Thanksgiving. Here’s a look around the wide world of ecommerce (and our office) at some of the lighter moments:
ShipStation’s #MannequinChallenge:
A ton of ShipStationeers participated in the 2016 ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning (we were all grateful for Austin, TX’s warm weather):
Tipping the scale in your favor on Black Friday = Ecommerce Expert Level. Bravo, FringeSport!
And of course, it wouldn’t be Black Friday without some insanity. See what went down across the pond in the UK, courtesy of the Telegraph:

You’ve probably shipped more packages in the last week than the last 11 months combined, so let’s see your hard work:
Our merch fulfillment has gotten so much easier thanks to @ShipStation; seriously, amazing interface. Thanks guys!

And whether you have a baby or a fur baby, the whole family can be involved with getting ship done!
Shopping Statistics
You just crushed Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In fact, so did consumers—records were broken, predictions were smashed to bits, and mobile sales were higher than Iron Man when he was trying to close that space portal.
So what did this weekend really look like? Well, Small Business Saturday saw shoppers and social media increase, but overall, spending was lower this year than last. If you have any ideas why, leave us a comment!
- 112 million shoppers in 2016, 13% increase over 2015.
- 135 million social media engagements, up ~59% over 2015.
- Spending was down: $15.4 billion in 2016 vs $16.2 billion in 2015.

But Black Friday and Cyber Monday more than made up for smaller sales:

Wow. Y’all broke records by huge margins. And mobile sales blew up—over a billion in sales on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday!
Words to Live By
Let’s hear the mantra one of our Product Managers, Djordje, lives and works by:
“Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. ” – Steve Jobs
Djordje appreciates this quote from Steve Jobs because “challenging old beliefs and ways of doing things is the foundation for innovation.” Glad we have him on our team!
Thanks a lot for this awesome article.
