How did you discover your talent for crafting beard oils, balms, and pomades?

In 2012 before mens grooming exploded onto the market, I attended a local craft fair here in Austin with my husband and found there was a real lack of handmade items for Men. As we looked around I could see my husbands interest starting to fade. Bored with what appeared to be endless isles of jewelry, candles and children’s onesies, we decided to call it a day. Perplexed, I didn’t quite understand why the beauty/personal care industry offered more for dog grooming than mens grooming. After all it was Austin, TX where beards flow like Tito’s at Happy Hour and mustaches are not solely for November. I went home with a plan to re-create a handmade version of my husbands coveted hair pomade minus all the chemicals. Lets just say If I knew how important chemistry would be in my life as an adult I definitely would have paid closer attention in school. The formulating of the products was by far the most challenging part of the whole process. Now that I have a few years under my belt I have to admit I kind of love working with wax and oil ingredients.

What’s the difference between your Black and White labels? Do you have a favorite?

The short answer to this question is simply the scent profiles. Our Black Label features an accord of Sandalwood, Leather and Citrus while our White Label includes notes of Tobacco, warm Amber and Cedar. The scent option gives the customer a chance to chose their preference while the contrasting black/white aesthetic gives us the creative freedom to explore two very different lifestyle concepts. My husband is definitely a Black Label kind of guy but as a female I’m partial to the White Label.

How has ShipStation helped you with your business?

ShipStation has really proved to be invaluable to my business. As a one-woman show, every minute of my day is spent designing, producing, packaging, and fulfilling. To have a “command center” for all things shipping is not just a convenience but imperative to the function of my e-commerce business.

What’s your favorite ShipStation feature?

ShipStation Connect is my lifesaver. My days of “saving as” and exporting are no more…I kind of think of it as my wizard wand for label printing.
