For Jalen, skincare is a passion. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skincare was always the goal for Jalen, but the timing of Goodeskin was unplanned. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jalen founded Goodeskin while still in school. \u201cI did all the formulation and all the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bottling myself,\u201d says Jalen. <\/span>Jalen channeled his education in biology to create a clean and affordable skincare company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Goodeskin\u2019s approach to skincare is science-based, natural, and handmade. A chemist by trade, ecommerce proved to be initially challenging for Jalen, but applications like ShipStation helped make the transition much smoother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Problem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Developing the products, filing with the FDA, and creating <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an ecommerce site were not only time-consuming but also expensive. When it came <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">time to actually ship their products, keeping the process affordable was crucial. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shipping products was one thing\u2014but finding people to buy them was another. \u201cI <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">realized kind of early that I\u2019m not a marketing whiz,\u201d Jalen says. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He tapped into social <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">media, seeing it as the most effective marketing strategy for his grassroots business. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a customer posts about Goodeskin on Instagram, it opens up a place to connect <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">between the brand and its clients. \u201cI am able to put a face to the person that placed an <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">order, and I&#8217;m able to open a better channel of communication with them because <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">people will respond to an Instagram before they&#8217;ll respond to an email.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The beauty industry revolves around social media and \u201cInstagrammable moments,\u201d this <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">includes a meaningful unboxing experience. The more excited a customer is about what <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they are opening, the more likely they are to post about it on social media. Many <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">branded boxes come at a high <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">price, which is a challenge for small companies like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodeskin. Yet Jalen knew a branded experience was key for growth: \u201cThat&#8217;s how you <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">get more traffic and that&#8217;s how you get more business. That was something that I had <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to do. I had to create a more Instagrammable moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The ShipStation &amp; Arka Solution<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ShipStation\u2019s free 30-day trial gave Goodeskin the tools, setup, and confidence boost it <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">needed to get shipments out and start bringing in revenue. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cShipStation made it so <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">easy,\u201d Jalen says. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A ShipStation support expert showed him how to create automation <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rules and track packages. <\/span>\u201cI was sitting in my bedroom shipping these orders by myself. It was really hard. I probably would have had multiple more meltdowns than I already had if I wouldn&#8217;t have had the ease of using ShipStation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When Jalen first looked into branded packaging, many solutions were too expensive or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">required outrageous minimum order quantities for a small business. Through a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ShipStation webinar about the importance of post-purchase branding, Jalen discovered <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arka.com\/\">Arka.<\/a> \u201cGraphic design is not my thing. I sent Arka ideas, they put them on a box, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">now I have boxes. How crazy is that? And I didn&#8217;t have to buy ten thousand of them.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arka designed and created branded boxes for Goodeskin at a price point that Jalen <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">could afford.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Arka&nbsp;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">helped me from choosing box sizes all the way to totally designing my boxes for me. Packaging alone has elevated my brand like crazy!<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>The Result<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ShipStation and Arka were able to provide Jalen affordable, cost-effective <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">solutions to help him grow his business. Goodeskin\u2019s Instagram impressions increased <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">drastically from 2017 to 2018. Jalen credits Arka branded boxes as one of the main <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contributors to social media growth. Creating an Instagrammable moment with the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">branded boxes led his customers to share their unboxing experiences and influence <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more impressions. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodeskin went from operating at a loss in 2017 to becoming an increasingly profitable <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">company today. The company saw revenue growth of 172% in just one year.
