Pierrepont Hicks, whose owners are also the creator of Northern Grade, a show for other handmade merchants, offers iconic ties and accessories to help you dress up without being too “dressed up”.



How did you decide upon the style—what I can only describe as iconic—of your line?

Our brand is not anything we decided on really… it is more just a style we grew up around and when you’re surrounded by something it tends to infiltrate your own life. We launched Pierrepont Hicks to make some ties and it turned into something more now.

What’s the advantage of wool over silk ties?

Well we make both, but we like wool a lot. Wool is a way to dress down, but remain presentable. Wool can add texture to your outfit, too.

How has ShipStation helped you with your business?

We ship all over the country and internationally, so ShipStation makes it very streamlined for us and since many of our items are made-to-order and we work with multiple factories, we also use ShipStation as a tool to keep track of all outstanding orders.

What’s your favorite ShipStation feature?

We live in New York, but have a fulfillment center in Minneapolis and I like the fact that both of us can log into the system at any time to review and process orders. It enables me to make sure items are going out on time and in the correct manner from a remote location. Also, since we have different factories we work with, the ability to tag items and customize emails for specific products it a huge time saver.
