What is Amazon FBA?
Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is a service provided by Amazon where sellers can store their products in Amazon’s fulfilment centres. Amazon takes responsibility for storage, packaging, and shipping of the products when orders are made.
How does FBA handle returns from customers?
With FBA, Amazon handles all customer service queries, including returns. This means that if a customer wants to return a product, they’ll deal directly with Amazon. Once the product is returned to the fulfilment centre, Amazon assesses the product’s condition and decides if it can be added back to the seller’s inventory.
How are storage fees calculated for products in an Amazon fulfilment centre?
Amazon’s storage fees are based on the volume (in cubic feet) of products stored in their fulfilment centres. Fees may vary depending on the time of year, with higher rates typically during the October-December holiday season.
How do I send my inventory to Amazon’s fulfilment centres?
Sellers can create a shipment plan in the Amazon Seller Central. This will guide them through the process of labelling, preparing, and shipping their inventory to the designated Amazon fulfilment centres.
What happens if my products don’t sell and remain in Amazon’s warehouse?
If products remain unsold for an extended period, Amazon may charge long-term storage fees. These fees are in addition to the regular monthly storage fees and are charged for items stored for more than 365 days. Sellers can choose to have unsold inventory returned to them or disposed of to avoid these fees.
