I love the topic of your book; how did you and Dina decide to build this kind of field guide & cookbook?
Foraging & Feasting’s topic has been Dina’s passion and life work for over 20 years. She had long wanted to create such a book based on the knowledge that this book is needed, and that it doesn’t exist. It required a collaboration with a botanical illustrator to create the detailed drawings necessary for proper plant identification. Lucky thing happened when Wendy (Botanical Illustrator) moved to the Hudson Valley from New York City so she could live among the plants she illustrates. She and Dina were quickly introduced, having many interests in common, and being neighbors. They worked on the development of the book for three years.
Do you have any particularly favorite recipes from the book?
Some of our favorite recipes are Wild Green Pesto, Frittata, Aqua Frescas, and Raspberry Mousse Pie.
How has ShipStation helped you with your business?
When we were getting ready to self publish our book we launched a campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for a large print run. Our book quickly became a hit on Kickstarter and we were able to pre-sell close to 3000 books. We were the number 1 cookbook on Kickstarter. We were able to do a print run of 6000 copies. Our big hurdle became how to ship out these 3000 pre-sold copies and that is where ShipStation came in!
What is your favorite ShipStation feature?
Our favorite thing about ShipStation is how it integrates with our MagentoGo store so that our orders show up automatically in ShipStation! That is the best! The ability to import all our contacts with the addresses for mailing was awesome. Also being able to track our shipments on ShipStation is extremely helpful. We use various shipping methods which is easy to do on ShipStation. And lastly printing our labels is a snap! We live in a small hamlet in Accord, NY and we became instant celebrities at the local post office. We are helping to keep our local post office in business and to show their appreciation they send a truck every day to pick up our packages!
