One of ShipStation’s core tenants has always been to help merchants sell online no matter where they are. Under that mantra, we’ve expanded to Canada, Australia, and the UK. To do more than just exist in those countries, we’ve worked to add the carriers that make the most difference for sellers in those countries.

We released a mobile app so that our US-based users could get ship done from trade shows, the airport, or even from the comfort of their beds.

And we’ve spoken at length about the importance of international sales in building a healthier, more profitable e-commerce.

We have big news on this front:

FIRST: ShipStation Mobile is now available for your iOS tablets AND is ready, willing, and able for our international users in Canada, Australia, and the UK with metric weights supported. Since we launched ShipStation Mobile, tablets have been a big priority for our mobile development team so we’re very excited to offer you the robust functionality available for FREE on our mobile app on your iOS tablet.

Just as important, international ShipStation users can now experience the freedom to ship orders from wherever they are. No need to be tied to a desk or laptop or warehouse. If you have a smartphone, you have the power of ShipStation in your pocket. Create new orders, refresh stores, send labels to print—all from your pocket.

To make the changes to ShipStation Mobile even better, we recently rolled out International Address Verification. Up to this point, only addresses in the United States could be validated. Because each country has a slightly different address format, the smallest discrepancy could lead to big delays at the border or customs, plus immensely expensive address correction surcharges (sometimes as much as $100!). Basically, the inaccuracy of shipping abroad cost our users time and money and enough was enough!

International Address Verification is live and active for the following countries:

  • Canada
  • Australia
  • the United Kingdom
  • France
  • Germany
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Norway
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • the United States

That also means our users in Canada, Australia, and the UK can validate addresses in their own country AND when they ship abroad.

We didn’t choose these countries at random, either. We analyzed shipment destinations and found these countries to be the top 10 destinations (top 11, if we count the US). You’re shipping here the most and we wanted to make sure that when you do, your shipments get to your customers as intended.

If you choose to opt in to International Address Verification, ShipStation will by default correct addresses but don’t worry—you can turn that feature off if you’d rather verify each one directly.
