WHERE THEY SELL
FLUXMOB.comWhere did the idea of the Fluxmob Bolt come from?
The idea for BOLT came purely out of necessity. Alan (co-founder) and I are obsessed with finding compact and minimalistic solutions for products that we use on a daily basis. When looked at options to keep our gadgets charged we simply couldn’t find anything that was compact, packed enough juice, or even looked nice. We also found that most of the battery backups on the market have one huge problem. You need to consciously remember to keep them charged. That was when we had our ah-ha moment. We decided we needed to build a replacement for your standard wall charger that also houses a decent sized battery with enough power to get you through the day. We also made it the world’s smallest of its kind. After a few design iterations and securing a manufacturer we decided we were ready to present our idea on Kickstarter. The feedback we received was phenomenal and we raised enough to start our company.
What advice could you give to other companies who are looking to Kickstarter to fund their project? (And then successfully transitioning it to a non-Kickstarter company?)
The best advice that I can give for those looking for funding via Kickstarter or another crowd funding site is simple. Do your homework beforehand and stay on top of communication with backers. Understanding all of the ins and outs of your product lifecycle is probably the most important thing before submitting. So many projects fail or are heavily delayed due to lack of preparation from the project creators. Finding the right manufacturers is probably one of the hardest things to do, so don’t make it an afterthought. Also remember to stay on top of backer questions, remember, they are the ones that make it possible.
How has ShipStation helped you with your business?
ShipStation has been a tremendous help with our business. It’s by far the top site in my browser history by a long shot. We use Shopify as our web frontend and ShipStation integrates perfectly. Just login, print orders, ship orders, and you’re done. When dealing with customer service ShipStation is also great. The search functionality is on point, so locating orders and assisting customers is quick and effective. We’ve tried a few other fulfillment websites out there and once we found ShipStation we were hooked.
What’s your favorite ShipStation feature?
Definitely the Shopify integration. It grabs our orders, product list, and even product thumbnails. It’s awesome.
