Using the ShipStation platform, leading e-commerce retailer sees significant operational efficiencies and revenue growth

AUSTIN, Texas —May 28, 2019—ShipStation, the world’s leading web-based e-commerce shipping solution, today announced significant success metrics with The Groomsman Suit (TGS), an e-commerce retailer that provides stylish and affordable suits. Through the use of ShipStation’s shipping software, TGS has grown from nearly $2.5 million in revenue to a projected $7 million in revenue for 2019 since its launch in 2016.

The Groomsman Suit is the first e-commerce company to offer stylish, high-quality suits and tuxedos that men can own for less than the cost of a rental. After launching from a New York City apartment three years ago, TGS experienced rapid and unprecedented growth. With tens of thousands of incoming orders to manage, backorders began to create significant operational and customer service challenges, including the need to manually generate shipping and return labels through individual carriers. TGS turned to ShipStation to help streamline its business and inventory operations and allow them to effectively scale.

Since implementing ShipStation’s shipping software in 2016, TGS has experienced and been able to successfully support exponential growth. With the help of an all-in-one solution for importing, organizing, managing, and tracking order shipments and returns, TGS has seamlessly scaled the business by more than 180% in just three years, while also keeping shipping costs down thanks to negotiated carrier discounts through ShipStation. Beyond revenue growth, TGS has also benefited from ShipStation’s automated tracking emails to customers, resulting in a decrease in customer service inquiries, and an increase in customer satisfaction. With a trusted shipping solution in place, TGS is now able to focus on different areas of its business to increase its growth, including order forecasting and maintaining its exceptional customer experience.

“When we launched, efficiently managing our shipping was really make or break for us, in addition to being one of our biggest expenses,” said Jeanne Foley, co-founder of The Groomsman Suit. “ShipStation enables us to balance the need to keep shipping costs down without sacrificing quality of service. As a business owner, having a shipping solution I can trust not only gives me peace of mind, but frees me up to focus on other areas of the business that are critical to our growth. Every day, we depend on ShipStation to help manage our orders and ensure a great customer experience. It’s undoubtedly been one of the most impactful investments we’ve made since our launch.”

With nearly 300 partnerships, including 40 of today’s biggest carriers, the ShipStation platform helps TGS solve the day-to-day challenges of processing and shipping large volumes of orders. Offering the ability to generate shipping labels, automate order tracking information for customers, and generate return labels in a single email, the ordering, exchange, and return process is now seamless for both TGS and its customers. Additionally, ShipStation’s 24/7 support helps ensure the solution is consistently meeting TGS’ needs and scaling alongside the business.

“Shipping can be one of the biggest and most expensive operational components for e-commerce retailers,” said John Kinny, General Manager at ShipStation. “And if something goes wrong, there can be significant impacts on customer satisfaction. We’re proud to offer e-commerce retailers the most options to quickly and easily organize, process, and ship their orders, and continue to help improve operational efficiencies and sales. It’s exciting to see the success The Groomsman Suit has had using ShipStation, and we’re thrilled to continue to grow with them and their customers.”

Since its launch in 2016, TGS has received national recognition for its growth and success, including being awarded a FedEx Small Business Grant in 2016, and Wedding Wire’s Couple’s Choice Award for 2016 and 2017.

About The Groomsman Suit

The idea for TGS was born from Jeanne Foley’s personal experience planning her wedding. With no other options available to affordably outfit their groomsmen, she and her husband were forced to go the usual rental route only to be disappointed by the logistics, poor fit, and price. Using her fashion industry experience, Jeanne set out to create a new solution for black tie attire: a sharp-looking tuxedo that could be purchased for less than the cost of a traditional rental. Diana Ganz, her longtime childhood friend, joined her efforts after receiving her MBA from MIT Sloan and together they launched The Groomsman Suit in February 2016. Since then, the company has had the honor of being a part of countless weddings helping thousands of men look sharp.
