The conclusion is clear: AI is already influencing demand, competition, and delivery performance—and retailers that fail to adapt risk being excluded from AI-led shopping journeys altogether.

How Spigen Made A Case For Smart Fulfillment
Something You Want
It all started with the drop of a phone and a makeshift protective film. Founded in 2004, Spigen was born on the outset of the modern-day smartphone. They started small making screen protectors. Now, they as a leader in the smartphone industry with cutting-edge accessories. Two project specialists, Hoon and Marcos, recognized they were outgrowing their old way of running the warehouse. It was up to them to make the case to switch to a more efficient and integrated system with an inventory management software and their shipping platform.
A Case For Efficiency
“We get thousands of orders a day from multiple marketplaces all over the world,” says Hoon. Spigen products sell on Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Walmart, and on their website hosted by Shopify. Multi-channel selling and presented challenges for the Spigen crew to manage their warehouse operations.
Shipping thousands of orders a day was tedious using manual copy and paste. Logging into several selling platforms on the backend gave room for error. On top of that, creating labels on different shipping carrier sites was a lot to juggle. They needed a single platform to manage orders, create shipping labels, and automate tasks. “It was not only time-consuming, but we always had issues with accuracies as well,” says Hoon.
Keeping track of thousands of products in a large warehouse presented its own burden. They had to perform cycle counts every day and it wasn’t always accurate. The warehouse kept track of their inventory on Excel spreadsheets with potential errors. “By the time we realized that we needed a WMS, it was already a little bit too late,” says Marcos.
They discovered a warehouse management software, Scout topShelf, which integrates directly with ShipStation. The integration between the cloud-based softwares was a match made in warehouse heaven. ShipStation became the order hub connected to all their marketplaces. Thanks to Scout, the team was able to ship their orders knowing they had the right product quantities on-hand. “TopShelf has allowed us to maintain inventory in real time,” says Marcos. He says it cut “confirmation time by several hours by being efficient and clear.”
Going Mobile in the Warehouse
“Having a cloud-based WMS and shipping tool is very important to us,” says Hoon. With ShipStation and topShelf, order accuracy immediately improved. The web-based system increased transparency with management with the ability to pull operational data on-demand. “One of the key benefits of the Scout and ShipStation integration is the ability to have data exchange automatically between both platforms,” says Marcos.
Workflow in the warehouse improved with the fully integrated system. Before, the warehouse had to memorize SKUs and verbally communicate order information. With thousands of product SKUs, this became an impossible way to run a warehouse. Scout implemented a workflow with scan guns, bins, zones, and strategically organized shelves. “After we implemented Top Shelf, we don’t even call up SKUs anymore. It’s all barcoded. We’re using the scanners to communicate, we’re using scanners to fulfill orders, we’re using scanners to get inbounds. Everything is the system,” says Hoon. “It’s always consistent, 100 percent, every single scan, every time,” Marcos adds.
Designed to Handle Future Growth
“The integration between Top Shelf and Shipstation has allowed us to grow.” Hoon says that the integration transformed a manual process into an automated cloud-based system. With ShipStation, Spigen has been able to cut down on manual work, automate tasks, and maintain a small team that can ship out orders fast. Scout’s topShelf has drastically improved their order accuracy and inventory visibility.
In 2017, Apple featured Spigen as a preferred partner for the new iPhone X wireless charging pads. Hoon was excited to see them mentioned in the Apple keynote. He says thanks to ShipStation and topShelf, the company can focus on marketing opportunities and product development to keep growing. For him, Hoon says “I have a lot more time to work on other things that I have to do.”
Spigen is passionate about designing amazing products used all around the world. That same passion extends to how fast and efficiently they deliver those products to their customers. “We’re always ready to meet the customer’s needs,” says Hoon. That’s why they’ve proudly chose to run their business with ShipStation and Scout.
